Sailing on Interlodge in St. Thomas, USVI
I got a chance to take a ride on Big Booty during the 2012 Key West Race Week. Big Booty is a Custom 42 Lutra out of Charleston, SC. At the end of the day after 3 races we took a 1, 3 & 3 leaving the Booty in 2nd place in the high performance class. Today I got to race on a Viper 640 for the first time. What a hooooooot! Very fun boat. Little wet today but I finally got to wear my new dingy boots they have been kickin' around in my car for a year. Wind was blowing about 12 knots and we cooked along for most of the day at 8-10 knots. The highlight of the day was when a Rhodes was sailing by in the opposite direction and somebody on board yelled out, "You call that hiking Leighton! " Dan, our skipper, yelled back. "Thanks!" I was bagged and quickly got my ass off the rail and over the water. I still don't know who called me out on the Rhodes. Can't wait to get back out on Rattler again.
